Corn -1
July corn futures are trading slightly lower this morning. July 25 futures are trading below all their major moving averages. December 25 futures are trading between its 10-day and 20-day moving averages. During yesterday’s afternoon session, December 25 futures reached a six-month low due to pressure from favorable weather and good crop conditions. US corn conditions were reported at 72% G/E vs. 71% last week.
Beans +2
Bean futures were mixed during the overnight session along with bean meal and oil. November 25 futures are trading above all its moving averages. During yesterday’s trading session, bean futures reached a one-month high due to the rally in bean oil. However, the strength has tapered off due to favorable weather conditions in the Midwest and a lower monthly crush figure from the NOPA. In yesterday’s USDA conditions report, beans were rated at 66% G/E compared to 68% last week.
Spring Wheat -2 & Winter Wheat +5
Wheat futures were mixed this morning. Mpls July 25 futures are trading between its 10-day and 100-day moving averages. KC July 25 futures are trading between its 50-day and 100-day moving averages. We got a first look at harvest progress in the south in yesterday’s conditions report (Texas: 56%, Oklahoma: 30%, and Kansas: 3%). Winter wheat was reported at 93% headed and 52% G/E. Spring wheat was 57% G/E. The Updated 2-5- and 6-10-day weather outlook is calling for small chances for rain in the Canadian Prairies and dry conditions in the Dakotas and Montana.
